Second time we've been here.
We learned from our last visit. Ask them to keep the flavors vibrant if you can handle chili and spicy.
This is Indian Hakka-Chinese food. Sister and brother run this gem.
We had:
Hot and sour soup, very spicy (upon request);
Coriander and manchurian chicken, with dry masalas not fried upon request;
Szechuan mixed vegetables very spicy upon request.
THIS WAS EXCEPTIONAL. India meets China in a dish and each mouthful is paradise.
Kind and gentle people who own this business. Warm environment. Love. -

Wong's is a hidden gem in Scarborough. I was one that never really liked spicy food but Wong's opened up my taste buds to the world of spice! If you like getting spicy grub, then you should definitely try out their Manchurian rice/noodles and their Chili Fish. When they ask if you want it dry or with gravy I suggest getting dry. "Gravy" means saucy and I got the full extent of the flavour when I got it dry anyway. The Crispy Sesame Beef that they serve is to die for!
PS. They do delivery if you live close to the restaurant. Service by the family that owns the place is stellar! -

I didn't know there was a Hakka restaurant in this part of town, especially in this plaza. Thanks to my dad who seems to know almost every Hakka place in the city and somehow knows the chief we decided to try Wong's Asian Cuisine.
The interior of this place is spacious though from the outside it seems small. What makes this place good is the quality of the food, price and portion.
As a first-timer here, their customer service was superb and even the owners were quite interactive with the regulars and new customers.
For food below are the recommendation if coming here.
Fish pakora
Chicken pakora
Crispy beef
Chili chicken
Manchurian eggplant
Green beans
Beef with red wine sauce
Sweet chicken haka noodles -

Good Hakka food, great lunch prices, excellent service in a small restaurant.
What We Got: Chicken Pakora, Fish Pakora, Bombay Chicken, Chili Fish
What We Liked: Bombay chicken is definitely worth trying. Veggie Pakora was delicious
What I Didn't: Chicken Pakora was only alright
What I'll Get Next: Bombay chicken and crispy beef
The restaurant is a highlight in an otherwise drabby-looking plaza. The interior looks great and the service is simply outstanding by any standards. On a weekend evening, there was a steady flow of people for takeout and dine in, which made the service even more impressive!
We ordered two pakora dishes (chicken and veggie) and two meat dishes (chili fish and bombay chicken).
Pakora came first. I'll be honest: the chicken pakora was good but not great. It's missing some kick and I think the crunch factor could be higher. HOWEVER...
The veggie pakora made up for it: very tasty and one of the few dishes where I'd opt for the non-meat item!
Chili fish was good, with a very optimal amount of spice for someone who can handle moderate amounts.
But the star of the show is the Bombay chicken. I think it's the preeminent dish to figure out if you like subtle tastes. It's different from Federick's and Hakka Legend with some savoury flavours that just bring out a special something. Worth trying. I got to pretend to be a serious food connoisseur by trying to figure out all the spices and seasonings they used here!
The only downside of this place is a bit beyond their control. Lots of places have downstairs/basement washrooms... But this one was particularly ragged. Clean, for sure - but a little old looking. Empty your bladder before you come! -

Ok, so I returned, a bit worried that maybe I got lucky the first time, and/or that my first ever visit caused me to be a little more enthusiastic than the place really deserved at 4 stars.
But NOPE! This time was even BETTER!
The first time I visited the chicken pakoras were very good, but didn't quite Blow Me Away, when compared to my favorite chicken pakoras, the huge portion of big fiery ones from Federick's, so this time I went for the shrimp pakora instead and Holy Crustacean, Batman, those suckers are delicious!
Great big bouncy shrimp inside, crispy on the outside, super silky and tender inside, and a killer cilantro nuoc cham type of dipping sauce, and these pakora just put them over the top.
Plus hard as it was to believe, I enjoyed the Bombay chicken even MORE this time than I did last time, with its super tender juicy hunks of chicken with a delicious and flavorful, bright red tandoori/tikka type of marinade, but dry style, sauceless and absolutely freaking delicious!
I'm hoping to try some other menu items, but I quite honestly can't imagine going there and not having the Bombay Chicken and the shrimp pakora, obviously I'm going to have to bring some friends so I get to try some other dishes, LOL
I don't give up 5 Stars very often, but Wong's Bombay Chicken and shrimp pakora don't leave a lot of room for improvement - really good food, and the woman working the bar / takeout counter was super friendly, quick, and very nice.
5 Stars! Keep up the good work!
